“Be with me”

That is your simple call.
Piercing the silence of this room,
You ache for me to
Be with you.
Ten thousand spears could pierce your side,
But you want me
Beside you.

I tell you I am too weak,
Too sinful,
Too unclean,
To be at your side.
And I can’t afford to look up,
Lest I see your disappointed eyes.
But I feel you draw me up with your refrain,
“Be with me.”

You know where I’ve been and where I’ll go.
You know that it’s for my sake that you hang on the cross.
But your arms outstretched,
You wait for me to return your embrace.

“Be with me”
Now and forever.
